Mogwai is good.. need music without lyrics that make me want to sing..

plots/story

God as;dklfjasdfj it. I've been focusing on this one theme, this one idea.. no plot, just a bunch of random characters, yet again. I designated today as coming up with plot day, so what happens? Last night I dream about the restaurant I used to work at, the restaurant I wanted to write a book about and now that's all I can think about. There are reasons I don't want to write that for Nano, but now it's just like.. every idea I've ever had is coming up and fighting with the others to get written. I just need to come up with something. Not this madness!

nanowrimo calendar desktops

for your viewing pleasure:

murder your darlings 2 murder your darlings 1

the first has the quote "murder your darlings" on the side, the second has it behind the calendar, depending on how you feel about things or how messy your desktop is. i feel that quote is useful in general but pretty much embodies nanowrimo.

realistic

same design without the quote. instead, we have notes that are not so much motivational as they are realistic. still guaranteed to get the job done.

smoke & quotes

and here we have my favourite, colorful, busy, with quotes from winston churchill and warren ellis, two dudes who probably know what they're talking about.

all these were made in giant widescreen size.. click on the thumbnail, choose your size (original=enormo widescreen.. well, 1440x900), you should be able to right click save or set.

rockin'.

revelation

i just had a revelation. it's going to seem a bit obvious, but:

i really need to figure a way to stop working and write full-time.

not wanting to work is pretty common when it comes to my attitude. but the way it all just became very clear to me, the way we are making plans for the future:

that should be my plan.

like, duh.

for use on nano desktops later

doing writing quote research while at work.. because if i must be here, then i need to be able to get REAL work done.

"Writing a book is an adventure. To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement; then it becomes a mistress, and then it becomes a master, and then a tyrant. The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster, and fling him out to the public." - Winston Churchill

"There’s Romance in it, because it wrecks us all the same way. We’ve all been Jack Kerouac, sitting in a cafe writing as the sun comes up, blasted by sleeplessness and sex or drugs or music or booze and just trying to get it all down while we can, because we’ll be somewhere else tomorrow and we’re dead longer than we’re living." -- Warren Ellis

"To begin with, let me plead that you have been told of one or two things which Style is not; which have little or nothing to do with Style, though sometimes vulgarly mistaken for it. Style, for example, is not—can never be—extraneous Ornament. You remember, may be, the Persian lover whom I quoted to you out of Newman: how to convey his passion he sought a professional letter-writer and purchased a vocabulary charged with ornament, wherewith to attract the fair one as with a basket of jewels. Well, in this extraneous, professional, purchased ornamentation, you have something which Style is not: and if you here require a practical rule of me, I will present you with this: ‘Whenever you feel an impulse to perpetrate a piece of exceptionally fine writing, obey it—whole-heartedly—and delete it before sending your manuscript to press. Murder your darlings.’" - Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch

test

hello. this is my nanowrimo 2008 blog. likely it will be a lot of bitching about word counts and plot holes and a place to empty my brain without involving the torture of myspace friends. they really should have a limit on how many bulletins you can post in a day. anyhow.
